When we visit old country cottages, old pubs, etc, we often have to duck to avoid bumping our heads.
This isn't because they made the buildings that way or because the building has 'settled', but because the average height of humans was a good couple of inches shorter than we are today.
So the question is: Are we still continuing to get taller or have we peaked off and in the same sentence, are women catching up, not only in height but in physique too ? (Already, a large number of women can down more pints than a man can, but that shouldn't mean anything or does it) ?

ISTRC reading that my generation - born during the War (the second one that is!) is particularly tall (I'm 6' 4"), and that subsequent generations are slightly shorter. The reason for this is the relatively healthy diet during rationing.

Women are growing in physique, but are getting shorter.
This is due to the increasing weight of their purses.
My wife told me this, when she told me she was taking even more housekeeping .................

Women are getting a very masculine slimness and men are shaving their chests and using cosmetics, something is going on, can it be hormones in the water supply

They really are bigger in Texas, y'all.......
Considering 99% of Yanks are decended from European 'stock' of one country/race or another, the ' best' examples of people originating from over 5+ generations of well-fed & healthy Americans are both taller & stronger than the average equivalent peoples from Europe/ U.K.
I think it's a diet thing . There's been more cheap protein available ( up to now ) since the 1930's in America & since the 1950's in the U.K.
I'm not including the obesity factor(s) here - now there are milions more people who do not exercise enough yet eat more and more --- than there used to be, both in the U.S.A. & Europe, since WW11 . | | |
