| | | Dog friendly areas In May I shall be travelling from Walsall to Exmoor via the M5.
I need a couple of stops that are dog friendly. A park or woodland area etc, so we can have a cup of tea and let the dog stretch it's legs.
Somewhere around Gloucester and then the Weston Super Mare/Bridgewater area.
Any ideas?
Thanks H.

| | | Re: Dog friendly areas It depends upon what you mean by 'let the dog stretch its legs' - if you mean what I think you mean (have a good run) then a woodland is certainly not the place to go.
Hinkley Power Station comes to mind for Gloucester area, and for WSM, anywhere in that mud when the tide is out, but make sure it doesn't disturb any feeding birds.
Sorry it's not the answer you were looking for, but this site is called WILD about Britain.

Neil. | O.K, thanks.
Not too sure about the last sentence though! There's loads of Dog topics if you do a search. Why is mine different?
We're going on a holiday and taking the dog. It's the planning I'm doing at this stage that ensures our Dog will not be a burden to anyone. Dog friendly accomodation, eating places, walking areas. There are some responsible owners about and I'm one.
My apologies if I've broken the rules or posted under the wrong topic, let me know and I'll happily have the thread removed.

H. | All dog owners get tarred with the same brush on here but I genuinely think the point that Neil was trying to make was that although he was giving an answer it may not be what you were looking for albeit he couldn't endorse anything that may disturb nature or wildlife. I think you should be applauded for the proactive questioning and I think Neil's suggestions are good.

The dog is under control but off the lead, there are no problems. Your post is a complete over reaction. |

I know it's hard for some of the members here to understand but you can own a dog and have it trained to behave appropiately off lead and love wildlife too.. I know!!!! CRAZEEEE!! |

| | | Re: Dog friendly areas I think you will find a lot of the bigger service stations do a doggy area a bit of grass with a "poo bin"
I walk my dog in woods she is never off the lead as she runs off but she would be off the lead if she was lead trained as a pup and not screwed up by some idiot who should never own dogs. |

H. | Hank, sounds like you could be one of the few responsible dog owners in the UK - so it's me that will do the apologising.
Sorry.
