Sorry, but that IS NOT having a dog under control.
What if in this particular wood Dormice are hibernating ? If the dog has been running through the wood, it will not be within sight of Dogghound all the time, and I wouldn't mind betting if by chance Dogghound did see his dog rummaging in some leaves where possibly a Dormouse or something similar might be, he would probably say "What is it then, what have you got there boy" ?
Yes, dogs are great for discovering nature, but they are greater for disturbing nature.
Neil. | Just noticed this haha. Firstly we don't get dormice in this area and since I hold a natural England protected species license for them, I'm probably in a better position than most to judge whether they at risk or not. Secondly the woodland is open structure with limited understory. I don't let him off during the breeding bird season, there are no reptiles, the dog stays close to my side as its trained no issues.
You don't know me, you don't know the dog, you dont know the area. . . . |

Possibly with exception of adult deer Foxes do all this and you love them | At least we have FairPlay to humour us with his endless supply of derogatory, inaccurate and sarcastic comments. |

Possibly with exception of adult deer Foxes do all this and you love them | The difference in numbers. An area popular with dog walkers will have 100s of dogs passing through flushing and spooking birds and mammals and destroying pond habitats. The same area would only support a few foxes. |
