| | | Why bother clearing after your dog? ..if all you are going to do is bag it and throw it in a hedgerow when nobody is looking??
This is driving me mad and I don't understand the mentality.
Next to my house is a small alley. Someone has taken to throwing bagged up dog presents into the hedges there as soon as they are out of sight. What kind of person is this? Why make the effort to clear up and then make it even more of an issue by sealing it in plastic so that it doesn't degrade anywhere near as fast as if they just left it.
I'm really not sure what to do. Has anyone had this issue or dealt with it? I don't know who it is as am at work most of the time and although I see a few people walking their dogs through there it's almost impossible to catch someone in the act.
The shamefull thing is that it's not isolated. On a nearby road there is a dogbin and yet people can't be bothered to walk over the road to dispose properly. They'd rather just get slightly out of sight and fling it in a corner. Even saw it done at Tarr Steps, a beautiful area on Exmoor and they had PROVIDED AN AREA FOR DOGS.
I know it's only a tiny few out of the many responsible owners but this really makes my blood boil. I never thought i'd prefer someone to not bother even clearing up.
Any advice please? |

| | | Re: Why bother clearing after your dog? Its a problem that occurs in my local area. It is a very strange behaviour and strikes me as completelty ridiculous. I spot them scattered all over my local area in some really strange places. I have taken to removing a few from prominent places mainly over hanging branches. Im not sure what the answer is or how to combat it. Maybe stake out for a few hours and see if its a regular person and report them? Sorry I cant be more help but I do feel for you as I see and feel the same.

| | | Re: Why bother clearing after your dog? It happens on every one of my walks what is worse that in the summer months it is thrown through the bushes and up into the trees when there are leaves to hide it.Then when autumn comes they are hanging there in full view.It is disgusting. There are bins all over the place for dog poo and still they do it even only a few yards away from the bin.On the estuary walk there is a bin at the beginning and in the park over the railway crossing but they cannot be bothered.Daft thing is there are no bins at all for normal rubbish from picnics and lunches so that is also strewn around and blown into the hedgerows. It makes me angry too |

| | | Re: Why bother clearing after your dog? We must be fortunate as we rarely have this problem. Some while back there was a group of 10 year olds, lead by a "thruppence short of a shilling", who thought it great to empty all the dog bins and throw the bags into the tree and bushes. They were caught, but being 10 nothing was done.
We make a point of thanking dog walkers who pick up. |

| | | Re: Why bother clearing after your dog? Yeah, we get it all the time in my area. Folks seem to intentionally tie them to tree branches. I suppose they expect there'll be somebody with a job who comes along to tidy it up, there's got to be somebody, maybe a council worker, who does that, right? WRONG!
I pick up after my dog, but I think I'd rather other dog-walkers left their animal's poo to disintegrate in the soil and rain, than leave those bags everywhere. |

I always pick up after my two dogs and if there isn't a bin about then I take it home with me to dispose of. Also if i see someone has dumped a bag or hung it in a tree etc ,I will also take this with me to.. I always take poo bags out with me Plus a couple of carrier bags to carry it all in...I dont have to do this but i do.. because i also hate seeing dogs mess left but uncaring owners! |

The newspaper idea is a good one, I'll get a photo or two and submit it, hopefully may make people more concerned about doing it as others may be watching more closely. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
