| | | Sea Defences For the last few months i’ve been researching and photographing everything that's going to disappear on the south coast with the onset of global warming. Every now and then though i come across the odd little gem.
In December during a gale force eight storm the south coast town of Seaford was flooded with sea water.
The town clerk, Len Fisher said afterwards, "It is devastating down there and we are grateful to the Environment Agency, which is trying to re-profile the sea defences."
The statement by the Environmental Agency who maintain the sea defences reported afterwards
" The sea defences at Seaford were not breached. When we say 'breached' it means the height of the beach has gone down — this did not happen at Seaford. The high tide we witnessed in combination with the strong winds — gale force seven or eight — and the wind direction meant the waves came over the defences. This is not an everyday occurrence. The sea defences have not been compromised in any way." Seaford News - Eastbourne Today: News, Sport, Jobs, Property, Cars, Entertainments & More |
