Would anyone agree that the proposed increase in Biofuels use - to incorporate 10% per unit volume of transport fuels by 2020 - amounts more to concerns about energy security rather than fighting climate change. Or is just green propoganda?
I personally think this policy is the wrong way to go. I would prefer more investment into fuel cells and electric cars and energy efficiency... what do other people think?
I would also prefer if existing EU land was used to produced Biofuels, rather than overseas sensitive habitats. It does seem a contradication to import biofuels. What is the point in destroying valuable 'carbon sink' habitat to grow Jatropha Oil, then to burn fossil fuels in order to transport this 'green' fuel to another country - how can this be reducing CO2 emissions?!
It makes you think whether it's simply about 'peak oil' rather than concerns about global warming.
