| | | Christmas lights I've decided this year to cut back on the lights I used to put up for Xmas-about 4 sets. Tree only for me this year. Is there anywhere you can get reduced energy sets of lights? Do they indeed exist?
Scrooge (but trying to do a bit for the environment)

Scrooge (but trying to do a bit for the environment) | The newer led lights use far less power than conventional ones, you can even get some that run on batteries, although they're not very bright. |

Our local coucil started up its recycling scheme this year, we have two wheelie bins, boxes for bottles and cans, bags for old textiles and bags for cardboard and bags for paper and what do thay do at christmas, they start a competion for the best lit house in town! surely this is encouraging people to waste even more of the planets natural resources, let alone building up electricity bills for those who cannot really afford it.

Bah! Humbug! | Yes I agree, hense my tongue in cheek post about putting up high-powered lights - no way!!
We have a huge christmas tree that comes over from Norway every year, that's put up in the town centre. It's a friendship gift to the town because of historical links. Hope they at least put low-powered lights on it this year to set an example - and the rest of the town centre decorations too. |

| | | Re: Christmas lights I have noticed a distict lack of Xmas lights this year. Usually in past years there had been a huge increase in the numbers of people smoothering their houses with external lights. This year hardly any to be seen.
The postive side of me would like to say that maybe the message about global warming is finally getting through but the cynical side of me says that it is because the electricity prices have shot up! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
