but your reasoning is flawed because if there was a EMP although your car might still work , the chips in filling station computers wouldnt so you wouldnt be able to get any fuel for your older car. ( and even if you could find a garage with a mechanical pump all the bank computers would be down so you wouldnt be able to pay for it anyway)

If an EMP occurred, car running would be the least of our problems!

| | Re: Low Tec Car yes it maybe the least of my problems but who said i would be running my car on petrol or diesel. there are other ways of running a car as proved by the swiss,also this country did in the forties when petrol was in short supply.if you burn wood in a condensor with charcoal due to the process hydrogen is produced in enough quantity to run a car.anyway back to the emp there are more than one way to produce one,ok as we all know neuclea weapons is one. fault electronic equipment if big enough will do so good job.as for the petrol station the majority if petrol pumps canbe hand cranked and anyway who said i was going to pay for it, if the sh-- hits the fan.as i live less the 10 mile from an airforce base i think i would be brown bread,haha |

and as to the petrol pumps i think you are still living in the early part of last century - these days most pumps cant be hand cranked - and if the mains power is off to the main tanks the pumps cant even access the fuel.
okay there are ways and means , like conecting a generator to the stations local supply - but that assumes you have a generator handy as most garages arent so equiped
