Yes but Cowgirl, did the woman tell her kids she had just fed them their rabbit? If not, if she just said 'oh it died' or 'I gave it away' When they asked where it was, I think it was a very sensible use of resources. Much better than what so many parents do -just leave the pet to the kids to negect until it dies.

I can tell you from first hand experience that hot smoked grey squirrel is a first class meat - sweet and succulent.

If you are willing to give it a go, only take the haunch and back legs. There's not enough meat on the front end to bother with.

The animals are difficult to skin too.

I was heartened to read in our local paper this morning that the thirty juvenile red kites about to be released in Grizedale are being fed grey squirrel amongst other things.

BUt I don't think they have taken into account their value to metal health of people or something that forces people out on walks everyday (and the corresponding health benefits).
