| | | The Gulf Stream or THC New research from Norway shows that the Gulf Stream has slowed down faster than anticipated, 5yrs ago it had slowed by 30% add another 10% & you've got where we're at now. I'll be glad when it stops, then we'll have winters similar to those they have in Labrador. I won't have to go abroad for some sking anymore, & it could be 3 months or more of good cold winter weather.
It will certainly set up many problems for the government to solve Transport, power supply, food distribution, health & welfare to name but a few. Many people will suffer & die in this country but that is only the tip of the iceberg(no pun intended) what with the mix of peoples & cultures here, policing may become a problem. All this may never happen but the signs point in that direction. How long it will take for real winter to set in, who knows? But I feel it will. |

I would wax those skis soon.
My crampons and ice axes have migrated to the very back of the shed over recent years, I may have to dig them out again. |

Matt | Sorry Matt, I can see that I've got to dot the i's & cross the t's in future. This time I was just trawlling through the Arctic Council site links, I'll try and find it again. It was in a Norwegian journal & I think it was published this month.
I'm just learning computer and internet stuff, so bear with me. In future I'll make sure I log the address of the site & page |

Thanks EH, although I wasn't trying to check the accuracy of what you'd said but was just interested to read more.

| | | Re: The Gulf Stream or THC I think somebody from Cambridge University was involved in the work I read on that subject. Possibly tied in with Arctic Survey and the Royal Navy, might help you find some more info. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
