| | Environmental Activities The school i work at doing my wildlife classes is having an Environmetal Day on the 16th July and I have been asked to do an environmental activity with the children ( possibly more then one activity). The Children are aged 7 to 11 years. Anyone got any suggestions on what would be good to do with them?
I need something that is easy for them to do and to understand.

| | | Re: Environmental Activities How about some sort of litter survey. I'm loathe to suggest litter picking due to the danger of injury. You could try and emphasise what a nasty thing it is to drop litter/fly tip etc.
Alternatively get some info from the energy saving trust and get them to carry out an energy audit at the school. |

| | | Re: Environmental Activities A couple of books you might want to get for the school which have lots of helpful ideas to get people of all ages to think and act that little more greener are GO M.A.D (Go Make A Difference) 1 & 2. Book 1 priced at £3.95 & 2 just under £7 at Amazon. |

| | | Re: Environmental Activities Thanks Mike and Jez. I think litter is being covered by one of the teachers. As each teacher is doing something I am lookin for another more unusual angle to work from. I got a couple of great books today from 'The Works' . They are from a series called 'Our Environment' One is Saving Our Planet and the other is 'Climate Change and Global Warming' they are aimed at children so am going to look through them to see if i can come up with an idea or to..
But would still be grateful for any other suggestions. I shard to compete against teachers

| | | Re: Environmental Activities I found my copy of Go M.A.D and this seems fun, wouldn't mind having a go myself!
If the children could ask at home for old roll on deodorant bottles that have removable balls, they can be recycled and put to good use. Remove the ball fill with non toxic paint, pop the ball back in and your have reusable painting pens (though a few I guess might be a good idea for more colours for the children to get creative with)! |

| | | Re: Environmental Activities what about some 'tracking' tracking animal prints in the mud? Maybe making plaster casts of the prints?
can you make some bare mud areas in advance? maybe bait the middle with peanuts a few nights before see what turns up and leaves their prints?
