| | | Re: sand dune 'management' I assume as he has lived in the house for only 7 years the dunes were there when he bought it? So if he wanted a "sea view" why on earth did he buy the place anyway?
I wonder what he did with all the sand he removed - it had to go somewhere.... someone else's "property", perhaps??
Sadly, if there is any flooding as a result I rather fear his neighbours to the right in the photo will get it before Mr Smarty-pants as their property looks lower and more vulnerable than his. I wonder what they think of it?
I hope the Council reinstate the dunes and send him the bill! For somewhere he alleges the Council just "dump loose sand from the roads" there is a pretty well established grass covering... Of course, now he's set his arrogant precedent what's to stop ALL the residents from bulldozing their bit of dune?

I can't even say that i'm a great expert but at least I've researched dune systems a bit more than the average seaside dweller. Dunes are a natural defense system against the attacks of the sea. Usually these systems would involve various stages of front line dunes, blow holes and slacks and then dune heath/scrub (roughly speaking). I'm not sure whether this system was compromised when the 'lovely' bungelows and houses were built and perhaps this is why it may not be working properly (the residences shouldn't be there) - if the surgeon's claims are to be believed.
I'd really like to know more than what is just reported by the local press. I'd also like to think that someone somewhere is attempting to preserve an important part of our eco system.

| | | Re: sand dune 'management' Unbelievable! I really can't believe these dunes aren't legally protected in some way, if only by the laws of trespass and criminal damage.
How can people be so stupid? If Donald Trump can be stopped then so can those idiots.

I do so hope he has been given food for thought at least, counter-proposals that allowed development and minimised damage had been rejected, on the grounds that he was going to take his bat and ball home and come out to play again.
As an insult, I think that "You, Sir, are a Golfer" has a certain ring to it I like.

Nope, he got planning permission for the golf course and club house etc. but stangely he was knocked back from using golf buggies as it would disturb the wildlife as if the flattening of dunes, digging drains etc wouldn't.
So all those fat, rich Americans will actually have to go for a walk when their playing golf.

| | | Re: sand dune 'management' Don't get me started about Donald Trump... grrr
From what I've read everything had been knocked back by the local/council planning and the government kicked in and overturned everyone.
Nice.
