But there are many people, especially those with impaired vision, for whom a slow start up is at best inconvenient, and at worst, dangerous.

The Phillips energy saving bulbs that I insisted on putting in a few weeks back take less than a few seconds to reach their full brightness. I really recommend that you try them if you can, it's just like having a medium wattage bulb. |

I bought one a couple of weeks ago made by another big manufacturer, it is tediously slow to give any light at all!
