I certainly believe habitat improvement backed by continued management is the best way forward for protecting specialist species and I also think the Great Fen project is an exciting model to be applauded. But aren't the fens the result of mans intervention and unless the sea barriers are continued to be managed and water levels controlled will they not be reclaimed by the sea?
Going back to the original question I agree with Gill that mans control of hbitat has probably decreased diversity as only those that can fit into our managed habitat can survive.
Should we continue to feed the birds I would say yes as I enjoy the impact of increased numbers.
