Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion...

It seems that some dog owners go to all that trouble of cleaning up after their dogs and then leaving the little doggy bag full of pooh behind, whats the point of that , I think that's worse than not cleaning up in the first place, I'd love to catch someone in the act, I'd run after them shouting " Excuse Me, I think you've left something behind, and hand over the DoggyBag, so you'd better watch out.

Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion...

There is a growing trend around these parts where some utterly stupid dog owners are hanging their (used) dog pooh bags onto the branches of the nearest available bush or tree, and just leaving them there.

Last week I saw one woman dutifully (or so I thought) making use of a pooh bag, only to then walk 50 metres, scrape a hole in the gravel with her boot, deposit said pooh bag in hole, cover it up and walk away.

I made a point of letting her see that I was photographing both her and her dog, and told her that if she did not remove the pooh, I would send the picture to our local paper.

There is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for any dog owner not to clear up after their pet.

PS: I was, until recently, a dog owner myself. My faithful friend died at the age of 18yrs. not bad for a king Charles.

Regards
Mike.

Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion...

It's the same everywhere. It gets those of us who do clear up a very bad name as we are tarred with the same brush simply because we own a dog. I have, once or twice, left a bag and then picked it up on the way home rather than carry it all round a half hour or more walk! I'm fortunate that most of the time mine waits until we are well away from the village and in the fields, so it's not often that I have to use a bag anyway.

This and fly tipping are my all time hates. I just cannot fathom the mentality of people who do this. Lazy and selfish.

Hmmmm once saw some boxers draper over a hedge dread to think......

It is annoying, i walk our dog regularly and even when were in the farmers fields i pick it up and take it all the way home, it doesn't bother me. But when i see bags dangling it winds me up, they go to the bother of bagging it but then leave it .

Here they often don't even bother with the bag - they just allow deposits to be left on the pavement! The bag does prevent children accidentally touching the stuff, at least.

The mentality of some people is scary.

Must admit I have done the same!! If I am not going back the way I have come then I will carry it with me.Luckily there are quite a few doggie bins so its usually not too far.
What I have found recently are used baby nappies strewn round the country park!!!

Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion...

I never hang my poo bags in trees but perhaps as with rubbish bins, more dog bins could be a available? After all councils want people to clean up maybe bins will help. I must admit that I thought it was not legal to put faeces into waste disposal bins that the local refuge men emptied does any one know if this is so? I know it can't be put into the toilet and flushed into our sewerage.

the reason there arent is that they have to be emptied on a regular basis and this has a cost implication for the council - who have a limited budget. and anyway why should the council tax payer subsidise the disposal of dog poo - the dog owner brought it there (inside the dog) , so they should take it away again.

Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion...

As some of you know, I often walk on our local "AONB"... so many times I have to come home and scrub the boots (after driving home in the socks!!!!!!!!!!!)... I get really p'd off as the majority of these owners are local........ I am sure they think, oh its such a big area what difference does one poo make.... well "hello!" there are ALOT of you thinkin' that way I'm a dog owner and clean up every time!

There's no easy answer, but the threat of sending a photo to the local paper had the desired effect when I last saw one of these idiots. Much better than the bouts of verbal argy-bargy I've had in the past.

Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion...

I have a dog, and I always clean up behind her but if I have to carry the bag and its revolting contents round with me because there's no bin available, then so be it, as I could never throw the bag into a hedge and can't understand why a moronic element of the public think it acceptable to do so. Some people are lazy, ignorant and - frankly - I don't think their brain power is up to much either if they think that wrapping up dog faeces in plastic and slinging it in the nearest hedge is any better than leaving the stuff in situ in the first place!

It's not just dog deposits in bags either, I am sick to death of general litter anyway. I think we are the most disgusting species...

Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion...

Yep - EVERY beauty spot I visit has picnic litter, or so it seems. We were in Dorset at Lulworth Cove and halfway up the cliff at the far end we could see a bag containing what seemed to be family sized drinks cartons and food wrappers etc. A family enjoying the beautiful unspoiled views? Moronic or what?

PS We have removed it when we've been able. In this case it was not possible.

i understand there would be a cost but I was concerned about the hygiene as regards the council desposal men when they empty a household bin. Dog bins are for a set purpose and I'm not sure, but would think that the relative health and safety of person emptying said bin would be taken into account by the council.

They should bring back a dog licence as with all responsible dog owners it may put off the irresponsibles ones...
The money raised could go into paying the dog wardens and fund the dog bins.

if they have wheelie bins they dont actually touch the contents , so there shouldnt be a h&S concern. and anyway there is likewise the same problem of handling bags of poo for the council opperative who has to empty the dog poo bin. (or worse deal with the huge heap of poo bags left arround it when it is full by those owners too thick or lazy to go and find another one)

Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion...

A few years ago i was on my home from work walking thru' the local park. I saw two 'youths' picking the poo bags out from a poo bin and throwing them at a direction sign.. You can imagine what was happening when they hit it. I shouted after them but they ran off. Kids eh!

Well, I've seen notices in places saying something like, 'You may place doggy poo bags in the litter bins'.

A problem in my area is that vandals have thought it a great joke to blow up doggy poo bins with fireworks!

Really, to solve a lot of problems, including unemployment, we could do with more park wardens.
