| | | Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion... Prevention of accidental contact aside, bagging it and leaving it (invariably in beauty spots etc.) means that the stuff's going to be there for years.
I've even seen bags left hanging in woodland where dogpooh bins are provided. The perpetrators of that action must have had a severe shortage of brain cells.
There's no easy answer, but the threat of sending a photo to the local paper had the desired effect when I last saw one of these idiots. Much better than the bouts of verbal argy-bargy I've had in the past.
What with this, littering, fly tipping, vandalism, graffiti, road rage, general discourtesy, etc, etc, etc, etc... I feel a Victor Meldrew moment coming on.
Regards
Mike.

If you think its annoying just seeing it (and it IS - esp dangling from tree branches near dog bins......) then try working in a country park and having to litterpick it back out of the hawthorns - only to be told that 'If I wasn;t doing that I wouldn't have a job' ........... so you see I'm supposed to be grateful for these baggies hanging in trees - cos I'm obviously not fit or have the brains to do any other sort of work ....... (I'm afraid wabs angry icon no where near fits the bill of how angry this makes me - think tasmanian devil and you'd be much nearer........... )

| | | Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion... Who mentioned Disposable Nappies, I've been complaining for years and no one's been listening. The bit that I don't understand Is Fecal waste Is being put into our dustbins, hospitals, nursing homes, nurseries all have to use an outside agency to remove bags that are provided which are then disposed of in another way. My Council have now asked us to put all kitchen waste including All vegetable, meat and fish cooked or uncooked in our Brown Recycling bin's which Is for garden waste. No mention of Soiled Nappies though, It's disgusting. Bring Back Terry |

Quite right, it annoys the pooh out of me too!
It's almost as bad as dumping binbags full of rubbish in country lanes, but that must be ok too as there's not as many people in the countryside..
Why don't they dump them by a skip or a bin? I digress.. |

| | | Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion... I hate litter of any description and we have a severe problem of people throwing poop bags into the trees around here.. I am a dog owner and a huge believer in poop scoops I just can't understand the mentality of some people one bag was hanging in a tree not 5 feet from a poop bin taking in I walk along a footpath that used to be a railway line so the embankments where this is drop away so the offending bag had to thrown with some force to reach the tree where it will probably spend many years as it's too high for anyone to reach...
Kayleigh can I ask what is a dog warden (I think they are an extinct species around here)

| | | Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion... I'm told sending the photos to the local dog warden can be a good way to deal with dog owners who leave the waste behind.
Sometimes when we walk around the local nature reserves as a family we do a litter pick and the one with the most gets a prize. Last time we did this I was impressed (and initially shocked) by my eight year old, who as well as picking up the usual drinks cartons, crisp packets and sweet wrappers, had picked up five poo bags in as many minutes! We saw many more on our short walk and I had to stop her from picking them all up. I wish I'd taken a photo of her and sent it to the local paper!
We don't have a dog, partly because I can't stomach the revolting stench of the poo, partly because I don't want another dependent. Seeing dog dirt lying around, either on paths or in fields does make me angry. The bags are worse as the natural environment is left to deal with a man made problem and isnt equipped to do so. The worst aspect of the whole sorry situation is the way so many people have recently abandoned their innocent dogs and can walk away without a backward glance. Bring back dog licenses and hefty fines for irresponsible owners. |

| | | Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion... We're lucky in that our Council provide biodegradable poo bags free of charge, and whilst we could do with more, we do have a fair number of poo bins. So I think we're quite well served. Though of course there are still some who can't be bothered to do the right thing.
We recently started receiving a regular daily deposit directly outside our gate. We didn't know who was responsible, so got a sign via our Residents' Association and Community Police Officer which read something like. Not only is it offensive, but it is an offence . . .etc etc
It was nothing costly, just something our CPO produced on a computer and laminated, but emblazoned with Lancashire Police Force logos and warning of fines, it got the message across, and after only a week in place, it's not happened since. The signs were also used elsewhere in the village to target problem areas.
In Blackburn, the Council are mad keen on this, and from time to time they will name and shame in the free newspaper that they issue. It's mainly fly tippers, but they have included antisocial dog owners. I'm all for it. |

| | | Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion... LOL I think so - seriously i went for a walk in the local woodland trust plantation the other day. I had not gone 50 yds before i trod in some Dog S****. It was everywhere despite signs to tell dog owners to pick it up. Pick it up? their dogs are let off the leash when they arrive but most of the time the dogs just *ra* on the path or near it and the owners have no intention of picking up. Thats why they walk their dogs there.
Woodland Trust ban dogs except on a lead please.

| | | Re: Doggy Pooh Bag Invasion... I've tried to read all of this thread but alas it goes on and on and.... ....so I thought I'd have a wee rant aswell
I hate seeing bags full of poo chucked under a bush or hanging from something, I mean really, why pick it up if all your going to do is give it a rain coat for goodness sake
I'm a dog owner and clean up after mine, two gorgeous cocker spaniels.
It does annoy me when I walk my dogs in a park and see dog poo lying around. Sometimes I actually pick it up, that includes bags left aswell and find a bin to put them in but it really irks me that some owners are so selfish. You'll know me if you meet me, I'm the one with 50 nappy sacks hanging out my back pocket |
