| | | Re: other web forums like this Quite honestly there isn't another forum like this; this is the biggest and the best.
I am a member of several other forums for specific areas of wildlife or gardening, all of them excellent, but none of them covers the diversity of topics that this one does. Viva WAB! |

| | | Re: other web forums like this i'm in agreement susie, i'm a member of several forums on a range of subjects and without exception, in my experience they're all populated by the most pompous oeoes (bleeped by me) known to mankind. this forum is fantastic! everyone here is so knowledgeable and most importantly incredibly generous with their knowledge, even to doofuses like me who didn't recognise a blackbird! |

| | | Re: other web forums like this I like Habitat, which considers WAB a threat, but there are many specialist sites concerned with Dragonflies,Moths etc that are excellent.
Half the fun is finding them for yourself

| | | Re: other web forums like this I know of a few specialist forums but Im not sure were allowed to post links to rival sites. Added to that I lost my bookmarks so Ill have to remember what they were called exactly. Ill PM them to you if I can find any. I think the one mentioned above was one of them |

| | | Re: other web forums like this There are some very specialised sites with truly expert people on them and, for many things, they are where I would go for information and advice on the less common taxa.
I'm not going to give a list because there are so many - it's simple enough to google for e.g. forum platyhelminths or whatever ....
Some people on some of them may seem to be pompous ... whatever ... but their time is valuable and they can get peed off with frivolous mails.
Something I can understand sometimes
But as you and Susie say, this is an excellent forum with a lot of freely given advice and a reasonable place to start .... Quote:

Half the fun is finding them for yourself | I check Habitat everyday, I didn't know they had a forum as well, I've just had a look for it now but can't see one. The disscussion page isn't well used only 6 comments this year.

| | | Re: other web forums like this I guess I must be lucky because I have never come across anyone pompous or unwilling to share their knowledge on this or any other site when I have asked a question or needed help.
In fact, despite the poor image the internet has 99 out of every 100 people I come across and polite and friendly. |

| | | Re: other web forums like this I too have been on several forums but always gravitate back to this one, spending more and more time on it. All the members are friendly and don't take themselves too seriously and unlike some other sites, are happy to share any knowledge with others. |

| | | Re: other web forums like this Going back to the original request ... it wasn't specifically refering to UK - conservation/ecology are, of course, global matters. There are several good international fora including the sister site of this - Wildlife and Environment Forum Quote:
