| | | Re: Should residential bonfires be banned? We have non-recyclable rubbish collected weekly. Recyclable tins, plastics and bottles fortnightly. We burn paper and cardboard, as we generate lots. As well as the sanctuary here, we run another business, and the paper mountain is scary! Fortunately, we are a long way from civilisation, and do not worry anyone with our paper-burning.
Should residential bonfires be banned? Possibly in urban/suburban areas.... or a limit on what is acceptable to burn. Wood is not unpleasent. paper/card does not produce much smoke (if burned right). other things are BAD!!

How on earth does any household generate that much?
. | Why do we have so much burnable stuff? We have a small farm, and run a small mail-order business, so apart from household waste there is packaging, feed bags etc. We re-use what we can but there is a mass of cardboard and paper every day.
The nearest (very small), re-cycling bins are two miles away. The nearest tip is a 60 mile round trip!!
You towns-folk don't know how lucky you are!
