City boy , born and bred - that's me. Never lived more than 25 crow-flying miles from Charing Cross in me life. But that don't mean there ain't no wildlife round 'ere, know wot I mean? 'Ere's this cormorant, gawd luv him, 'e's been arf-inching the eels dahn in docklands...



I reckon Lundun's gotta be the best city in Britain for wildlife. Come on then you lot - prove me wrong!

I work in South East London (travelling up from Kent everyday) around where I work we have loads of Rose-ringed Parakeets and I have seen lots of good birds and wildlife over the years.

Great photo! You can nearly always see cormorants on the Thames by Tower Bridge. The river is so clean now and full of fish. Yet when I was a lad it was like an open sewer

Lovely photo but there's cormorants all over the country, what about getting a snap of a black redstart - that after all is one of London's finests boasts I reckon, something London definately has more of....

(be careful not to disturb them near a nest though as they are protected from disturbance by law)

I spent much of the last decade living in north and east London. Didn't get to do much dedicated birding (busy being a student/working) but 8 years of keeping my eyes open produced: Peregrine (twice, including the breeding birds in the City), Cuckoo, Oystercatcher, Black Redstart, Wheatear, Sand Martin (breeding), Kingfisher, Goosander, Mandarin Duck, Common Tern and Ringed Plover, as well as lots of more typical urban birds. There's plenty to see in London, for those who can be bothered to look.
