| | Wind Farms Again - You Couldn't Make It Up Yet more evidence emerging of the folly of implementing too great a reliance on wind farms in the UK as base load generation. - And as more and more are installed it won't get any better! £10m cost of turning off wind farms - Telegraph
Some interesting replies in the comments column too!!
Before anyone jumps in - yes, I appreciate that this is a media article, and, as I always have done, will be the first to say that media stories should be viewed with caution.
But anyone with any knowledge of our energy policy will see the significance.
Regards,
Mike. |

| | | Re: Wind Farms Again - You Couldn't Make It Up Mike, although by no means as knowledgable as you on this, I spend a lot of my time looking into the 'why's & wherefore's' of energy from wind. And I am of the same opinion as you- 'It doesn't add up!'
Bloggers on Bishop Hill's site had a field day with it all a few days ago, some of the comments are very amusing, some very informative. - Bishop Hill blog - Shukman onwindfarms

Dorts. | Thanks for the link Dorts.
Yes, whilst some of the comments are amusing, it does show that there are numbers of people out there who do realise the folly of "too much wind".
The present UK energy policy is utterly insane. - From both the environmental, and the economics points of view.

| | | Re: Wind Farms Again - You Couldn't Make It Up Both the Telegraph report (and associated comments) and Bishop Hill Blog are very interesting and so informative. Information/comments such as these are becoming much more common, almost on a daily basis, in local and national media. Whilst it is quite obvious more and more of us are wakening up to shear stupidity of the 'current energy policy' which most of our political leaders are pursuing it is also apparent that either the 'decision makers' are blind or cannot read.
It seems so obvious, when so many article such as these already mentioned are becoming so common, that there is a great need to call a halt to such wasteful schemes. When will Mr Huhne and Mr Salmond (SNP Leader) and their cronies realise the absolute folly of their ways.
As has been said many times on WAB, all alternatives may have a place in an 'well thought out overall energy mix' but not within the adhoc scheme of things that is currently being pursued.

John D Zenfolio | John's Wild World | I doubt the policy makers are blind or illiterate I think its more a case that someone somewhere is making more money in their back pockets in one way or another ... its called 'business' when really that sort of 'business' should be called 'legal racket' .... Its only years later when the dealings and double dealings and hidden left and right hands come into view (long after those involved and benefiting have gone) that we learn what we have always suspected - someone made a 'killing' in their 'business' ...... it stinks as these sorts of things invariably do ....
