| | | Bath v shower At last, someone agrees with me that showering is not more energy efficient than taking a proper bath: BBC News - People's showering habits revealed in survey
That less hot water is used in showering is one of those myths that have become established as 'fact' - perhaps put about by shower manufacturers and plumbers? |

Possibly.
I saw an advert the other day which claims an automatic dish washer is more economical than washing by hand. |

| | | Re: Bath v shower I certainly don't spend anywhere near 8 minutes in the shower - probably nearer 3 minutes. I wet myself down, turn the shower off and soap myself, then rinse off.

| | | Re: Bath v shower I have always been very keen on a good bath, especially if you have got cold or worked hard and feel a little creaky. About 2 years ago, we got a shower and a new bath put in. No-ne has used the bath since! (Some do not seem to use the shower much either, once a month is surely enough?).
I should make it clear that only Christine and I live here at the moment, and she is scrupulously clean.

| | | Re: Bath v shower Unless you have a power shower or shower for more than about 10 mins then I think the article indicates that showering is more energy efficient.
I don't know how long I spend in the shower but a few years a go I did an experiment of putting the plug in the bath while showering. When I had finished the water was barely ankle deep; certainly not enough for a bath.
