| | | LED Street lights So here's a way the government can save a lot of money and create a new industry for the UK which will create tens of thousands of permanent jobs.
It's called Self contained LED solar powered street lights. The LED lights are 10 times more powerful than standard street lights based on consumption, being solar powered meaning less energy use and provided from a renewable energy source....no more street lighting bills. But most importantly is that they are self contained. Meaning they store their own energy and do not require to be connected up to the national grid. Meaning no more digging up roads because of street lights. The battery/storage and solar panels have a minimum working life of 25 years but more incredibly they pay for themselves what they save us on energy inside 5YEARS!!!!!!
So the next time someone wants to campaign against the government for reasons including: climate change, lack of jobs, closer of manufactures, rewarding other nations contracts, council budget cuts.....PLEASE let them know about these. AS such a small and cost effective idea can solve a lot of economical, transportation, environmental, unemployment related issues. |

| | | Re: LED Street lights How well do they work when the solar panel is covered in snow? How often do the panels have to have the traffic grime and pigeon droppings washed off them?

They're nicking the gratings from the drains to flog as scrap iron and digging up copper telephone cables so the more valuable metals used in rechargeable batteries would be just too tempting.

| | | Re: LED Street lights Do our streets really need to be that bright!?! Being 10x brighter would give us 24 hours of daylight!
And ten of thousands of jobs??? Doing what exactly?? Once the new lamps are installed that's it, those who maintain the current streetlamps can carry on their job with the new ones.
