| | | Re: The Renewable Rape of Scotland (I have already posted this in another thread, but the article to which John links deserves every emphasis):-
John,
I have just read the article to which you link.
Before today, I had never heard of Scottish Tory MEP Struan Stevenson. - But that man now has my utmost admiration for telling it like it is.
I urge every single person who sees this post to click that link, and to carefully read and inwardly digest that article. - Your eyes, as they say, will be well and truly opened.
Yes, Mr. Stevenson's concerns are primarily in respect of Scotland. - But what is proposed for Scotland is already happening wholesale in the rest of Britain.
And, if you can't be bothered reading the article, - (shame be upon on those of you who this applies to. ), there are actually two further links at the very end of the article, which when clicked on enable the easy option of seeing and listening to the whole speech as an audio-visual download.
As several of us have been trying to get across for some time, it is crystal clear that this all out race for wind will do precisely nothing for the environment, whilst doing a great deal for the speculators and the energy giants.
It will certainly do something for the consumer - It will cost him dearly!!!
Please - take the time to read this article - you owe it to the environment, if not yourself!
Regards,
Mike. |

| | | Re: The Renewable Rape of Scotland apart from anything else in the speech,
"In April it was reported that six windfarms in Scotland were paid £900,000 to switch off their turbines for one night, to avoid overloading the grid! The money just pours in, whether the turbines are operating or not."
This man should be roundly applauded for standing up and saying this. Wish more politicians would speak from the heart.
Cheers,

| | | Re: The Renewable Rape of Scotland Read it for yourselves - its enlightening. Here is a bit taken from near the end of his speech - it says it all really - well done to him for standing up and saying it straight out - now we could do with it posting across the land on evey billboard ...........
'........... but until we do, it is sheer madness to turn our backs on nuclear power. With our remaining nuclear power stations at Hunterston B and Torness nearing the end of their working lives and a large and skilled workforce only too ready and willing to develop a new generation of nuclear plant, it is perverse to slam the door in their faces. Don’t listen to the siren wails of the Greens who cite Fukushima as a reason to abandon nuclear technology in Europe. The EU does not suffer from 9.2 Richter-scale earthquakes and tsunamis. What we do suffer from is the constant garbage pedaled by the Greens who are the ones behind the current renewable wind blitzkrieg invading our country with industrial structures of concrete and steel, all for a small, intermittent trickle of electricity at vast cost to the consumer.'
Wake up smell the 'wind power waffle' ............

| | | Re: The Renewable Rape of Scotland It is socially unacceptable to be against wind turbines in your area.
Nooo! I didn't say that! If you follow this interesting link and then click on the 'Ed Milliband has spoken out ' link, you will find the that our next potential leader may have embarrassed himself a couple of years ago when he said that opposition to wind farms should be 'socially unacceptable' ! Opposing wind farms should be socially taboo, says Ed Miliband | Environment | The Guardian
Whatever happened to his belief in free speech and fairness? This is a huge subject that encompasses EU puppets, greedy landowners, Envioromentalists, MP's, the man in the street, NIMBYs, WIMBYS ( Windfarms In My BackYard - yes, there's a movement in favour of them! ( Google it )!
It needs to be discussed and the subject should be socially acceptable in any democratic society. |
