| | | Please vote for this (renewable) scout campsite scheme today Groups: Laleston Scout field | energyshare - something truly amazing is happening in renewable energy.
Please consider voting for my sister's scout group campsite scheme in South Wales.
The propsed campsite has no facities at all, so they want to build a storage building and collect water from the roof, store it underground, then pump it through filters using solar power.
I am sure they would also welcome any advice.
The voting closes today (30th June), so you will need to register and "support" today, or use your facebook profile.
Thanks alot

I don't understand how voting for this scheme will add support for it. If I join the current 9 supporters my name or sudonym will be displayed on the page. I see there are no comments from anyone yet.
I'm all in favour of the scheme but how does a supporter actually help? |

| | | Re: Please vote for this (renewable) scout campsite scheme today Ah have actually visited the website and its more of an activities centre than a campsite as such isn't it so makes sense.
I hope scouts are still brave enough to go camping in places with no facilities though. (and I still think they should evict girls - poor boys where else have the got to go to escape teenage girls? )

| | | Re: Please vote for this (renewable) scout campsite scheme today This is the first round of the application.
They had to register the scheme by today, and projects that they think have potential and display support will be chosen to go to the next round.
They have only just found out about the grants and applied, so I am trying to hep get some last minute support for their scheme.
Yes, for Duke of Edinburgh etc, they don't need any facilities, but in general to be able to hold a group camp nowadays they need at least a water supply.
If you register a new account (ie don't use your facebook account), they will only display your nickname and rough location. (Or add a wrong postcode or work postcode if you prefer)
(Thanks for at least reading this thread)

| | | Re: Please vote for this (renewable) scout campsite scheme today This is how it works:
30. How does the application process work?
Round 1 – Register your interest on this site using the simple form and then get as much support as you can for your group. The closing date is 30th June 2011.
Round 2 – If you have demonstrated enough support for your group and you meet the criteria you will be invited to submit a full application, in more detail. This will take place late July 2011.
Round 3 – Full applications will be shortlisted by the energyshare team in August 2011.
Round 4 – The energyshare fund decision making panel will put together a shortlist
of projects for the public vote in September.
Round 5 – Final projects will be open to the public vote to decide which projects should get funding! energyshare aims for those communities who have the funding awarded to be notified by Autumn 2011.
We are currently at Round 1 stage.

| | | Re: Please vote for this (renewable) scout campsite scheme today Thanks for the info, dampflippers. I'm sure it'll be interesting for those who might be looking with interest.
I see there's a comment now from NSB!
I'm a little concerned about the write up, in the nicest possible way. It doesn't say who "we" are, apart from the group being called Laleston Scout Field. It mentions that the last scout group folded 20 years ago and that over 200 scouts have visited the site doing various activities.
If the scout group has been resurrected it would be good to say so otherwise one could be left guessing as to who is doing the site development.
Will support this as I had a great time in the Scout movement. Awaiting account confirmation. |

| | | Re: Please vote for this (renewable) scout campsite scheme today Yes, the scout group is resurrected and expanding. I'll point out your observations to the scout group. If it is unclear to you, it may be unclear to the funders.
Thanks
