| | | Re: Wind turbine potential I went to a workshop runs by Smiley Dave Weirdigans two years ago, fantastic, what a great bloke and passionate about low-key and low-cost green energy.
There area a good number of people who use LED lighting after going on one of his workshops for their homes, caravans, camper vans, sheds, livestock buildings, etc.
You might pick up some ideas for your outdoor classroom here.... | | | Re: Wind turbine potential Another issue which strikes me as an environmental consultant who works on a lot of wind turbine/farm planning proposals is the impact this could have on wildlife, in particular bats. Wind turbines should not be placed near trees/hedgerows and should have a buffer of at least 50m or more preferably 75-100m if possible. Turbines in woodland/close to trees have been known to have large negative impacts on local bat populations. It is possible that this could hinder your proposal at the planning stage, as hopefully a consultant would pick up on this and offer suitable mitigation i.e. placing the turbine in an adjacent field, away from habitat features. |

| | | Re: Wind turbine potential Further to Dogghounds post, Eurobats publication series no 3 "Guidelines for consideration of bats in wind farm projects" makes useful reading.
