The company is based in Gloucestershire but it probably wouldn't be right to "advertise" them on here as, I believe, "other companies are available"! I'll PM you.

| | | Re: Anyone got free solar panels? When we phoned our Buildings Insurers to inform them they said there are lots of people going for this now. I am well pleased with ours so far! This morning (it was sunny so we were getting full benefit) my washing machine was on the highest speed spin cycle and the mains electricity meter wasn't moving. Lovely! I even caught the little wheel going backwards yesterday! Lovelier!!
Since the system was switched on at about 5:00pm on 11th August, up to 10:00am today (24th) our [12] solar panels have generated 104.5kWh and during daylight hours (between say 8:30am and 6:30pm although some days I've read the meter a bit earlier or later) we are using on average 2 paid-for metered-by-the electricity-board units per day. (Daylight that is, we obviously use more at night which is metered and charged for normally) As I am at home I can do the washing, ironing, cleaning and some cooking during the daytime and benefit from as much free electricity as possible. I also tend to have my computer on for most of the day and there are the usual "always on" things like fridge & freezer, clocks, a couple of timers, etc.
The downside is that I am still visiting the cupboard under the stairs too frequently to check on progress!
Our copy of the lease arrived in yesterday's post from the solicitors who have dealt with all the legalities and lodged it with the Land Registry.

My home is on a hillside and has nothing shading it at all, faces east and is, apparently, in a good position for panels - indeed, another person in the street's had them for about 8 years now.
I've heard from an aquaintance that the solar panel companies are the new double glazing sharks - e.g. astronomical prices being quoted and then reducing them by thousands at the end, 4 hour 'presentations' given, and you need to sign up on the day and give a cheque too.
I'm in no hurry for that kind of thing
I'll keep watching this thread |

I'll keep watching this thread | Anecdotally, I've been told by clients that other companies (often those that "cold call" ) have done exactly this. One customer in particular was originally quoted £35k for a 3kW installation. When told what our firm had quoted they apparently dropped their price to match us (from £35k to £11k ). Presumably they get some takers at these prices or they wouldn't try it. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
