However, she admits the fate of this and other devices in development is tied to whether states adopt a low-carbon policy.
"It's very much tied to policy. If we had a carbon policy, something like this would move forward a lot more quickly," she told the BBC.

| | | Re: New solar fuel machine 'mimics plant life' Hm. Efficiency as of now is 0.7% - 0.8% The inventors claim that <19% is attainable, which they say would make it commercially viable. Is that convincing enough to persuade a commercial organisation to look at it? Like it or not, if industry can't make money from it it's dead in the water

| | | Re: New solar fuel machine 'mimics plant life' Any hydrogen produced by this technology would be far more eco friendly than the horrendous batteries which cars like the equally horrendous Toyota Pious use. Reality is Dust-to-Dust total life and not just a snapshot of carbon emissions.
I don't look forward to the death of the petrol engine though - It's currently at a peak and V8 and V12's are still being produced I'm glad to say.

Each to their own, though.
Stay focussed and enjoy every mile whatever you drive (even though it's difficult to enjoy some cars!).

But the type with no engine, just leg power . A Harley would be my choice of motorbike.
Methinks we've meandered way off topic. How long do folks think it'll take for solar fuels to be widely adopted, assuming they get the financial backing?
