| | | Wind Farms and Wildlife I like many others am concerned for the Wild Swans now that the wind generators have been installed. The pictures attached show part of a flock of Whooper Swans feeding on harvested beet tops approximately half a mile, as the crow flies, from where the picture of the turbines was taken. At present the birds are staying to the SE of the generators but later in the season they tend to move further afield taking them into the path of the generators. All one can do is to hope that not too many are hurt by the siting of these turbines. I am all for anything that reduces fossil fuel usage, but feel with such an important site, as Welney is for the swans, a better place could have been found for the turbines. The biggest laugh of all is that the wind generator near to Whitmoor prison has to be turned off when the early morning sun flickers through the turning blades and disturbs the prisoners. |

| | | Re: Consider Wildlife on Wind Farms I tell you what Wildone, on another Forum the debate still rages about Windfarms with over a thousand replies so far. It is a very emotive subject and an argument that has many twists and turns (pardon the pun).
You think these wind turbines are bad, you ought to see the Wind Turbines around Tarifa and La Janda in Spain. They are in their thousands and right in the path of Migratory birds coming over from North Africa. http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search/im...&tt=1&ei=UTF-8 http://www.dartdorset.org/html/birds.shtml | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
