| | British Gas just saved me a fortune.. I wanna share this as utility bills aren't funny atm and this saving is excedptional..
I got a rather large electricity bill for July08-jan09.. They said i'd used 4116 kwh's in that 6month period. So that worked out at £446
alot i thought so checked the meter.. load of 10.5kw accross the meter and it took 5mins 50secs to click 1kwh.. that equtes to 10.25kwh so the meter is sound.
Called BG and they said that's right, so i moaned at the cost and the usage and that under the current plan Uswitch could save me £200 a year or so (made it up)
So.. they changed me plan to the Price Promise 2010, fixed until Apr2010.
This means the bill went from £446 to £280 with a click of a button on his PC. The best Uswitch could do would cost me an extra £200 a year (this saves me £400+ a year). He also credited me some units and it went to £245 from £446 for electricity i'd already used.
So.. call BG and ask for the Price Promise 2010... although when introduced in 2005 it was a 5 year fixed price tie in and is now a redundant price plan not available he still put us on it
Price plan is 12.778p/kwh+vat for 1st lot, 6.816p/kwh for 2nd lot

| | | Re: British Gas just saved me a fortune.. power to ya
your lucky they did anything at all in your favour
the trouble iv'e had with british gas put me off them for life
i was with british gas for quite a number of years but things started to not add up to cut a long and frustrating story short they was blatenty ripping me off for around £400 a year which was easily proven but even going through energywatch to try to resolve this matter had no success so i changed to EDF and my bill suddenly dropped from averaging £140 a month to £85 a month confirming to me british gas "was" ripping me off although they insisted that £140 a month was right
all i had changed was my supplier nothing else energy consumption remains the same the heating/cooking is gas |

| | | Re: British Gas just saved me a fortune.. I happy for You..... but would not go to BG ever again, our bills were getting bigger and bigger and we found a cheaper supplier (Who have stayed competitive to BG) long story short BG owed us £555 due to charging too much and us not using that amount of gas took 6months to get money back and the help of the Ombudsman and present supplier Good luck though beaware of being locked in though even at this rate prices are set to fall as the year goes on and BG have reduced by 10% so this maybe why the reduction I don't trust them

| | | Re: British Gas just saved me a fortune.. yes when it comes to energy suppliers, car manufacturers, housing builders, broadband etc etc for every nice story there is 10 other customers that hate them with a passion. Why can't these swines be abit more consistent??
Your fate, well being and financial position can so easily depends on who you talk to and his/her mood at that time |

| | | Re: British Gas just saved me a fortune.. My mate's place is a brand new building (9 months old) ergo, everything inside is up to spec. Not according to BadGuys. No. Mike's meter had to replaced at a cost of £25 for the meter. Then on his next bill he had changed his tariff, guess how? Yep, upwards. British Gas, incorrectly named as far as Mike's concerned.
