| | | Tesco bulb offer At the moment Tesco have a great offer on low energy bulbs.
They cost £1.00 each for a single bulb from 9 to 20watts - or you can buy FIVE for 40 pence. I struggled with the maths on that one too! Yes FIVE bulbs for 40 pence! And they are not Tesco value ones either!
This was an offer I couldn't refuse.

£250,looking up the company online it was only £137 including P&P so I bought one now I need to illuminate the overhead waste tip

| | | Re: Tesco bulb offer Being retired they are frequently sent to me, all part of our run up to the EU's insistence, that our mob signed up to, to phase out incandescent lamps.
The EU also states apparently, that mercury must be phased out.
Great energy saving scheme as it must mean no light bulbs very soon.
Ain't politicians wonderful?

I have recieved these free light bulbs too. Is it me just being a bit dim ( ) or does anyone else think the bulbs are just not bright enough - therefore more than one is needed - therefore no energy is actually saved? |

| | | Re: Tesco bulb offer These compact fluorescent lamps do take a couple of minutes to reach full brightness from switch on.
They are best suited to locations where, once switched on, they will be left on for at least half an hour or so. (The longevity of some of the less well engineered makes of these lamps will seriously be impaired by constant switching).
They do work out more cost effective, and are undoubtedly more energy efficient than tungsten filament lamps, but despite all the blurb, I've found that it's only those of 16watt and above that are bright enough for the smallest of rooms.
At the offer price though, and seeing as the offer includes 20-watt units, you can't go wrong. I'd be tempted to snap some up asap.

| | | Re: Tesco bulb offer The 5 Lamps for 40p offer is still on, and the lamps are available in both Edison Screw and Bayonet Cap fitting. (So most types of light fittings should be catered for).
This really is a no brainer offer - one 60-100watt tungsten filament lamp would cost in the region of 40p.
Only problem I've found is that all of the 20-watt Bayonet Cap lamps are sold out at all my local stores. (Obviously people know when they're onto a good thing).
