Really excited about this one (makes me a bit of a nerd I know). Kids at school really excited. Some are hysterical and have had parents bringing them in, in floods of tears convinced the world will end at 8.30.

I am at work but have managed to grab snippets between classes. They have successfully got protons to go around the entire 27km loop and over the next days will speed them up to approaching light speed.

yes, the collision hasn't happened yet. It will be a few weeks apparently. Today they managed to send the particles in one direction around the circuit. The next step is to get them to go the other way. Then they can send them in both directions simultaneously and re-create the 'big bang'.

So, the end of the world may occur in a few weeks.
