| | | Re: Wind Turbines and Bats I know of incidents involving bats and the smaller (fashionable?) wind-turbines/ generators installed on the roofs of private houses. These are not fitted with guards generally but could be if it were made law
Many of these houses are older properties that house several Bat species

| | | Re: Wind Turbines and Bats See the Eurobats publication No 3 for turbine guidelines EUROBATS: The Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats
If you want to see thermal imaging footage of bats colliding with turbine blades, it's all on the web Uni of Calgary I think.
There's a move to use vertical axis turbines that may eliminate the problem. |

| | | Re: Wind Turbines and Bats When I saw this thread I initially thought it was related to small home wind generators. I can't see as the large power turbines would pose a problem, just as has been descussed earlier. I do think home wind generators would though. The new virticle axis turbines do look to be a much better idea. Our local Tesco has installed 3 of these in the car park. They look great. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
