| | | Re: Light bulbs banned Im stocking up on all the old bulbs, im not living with high levels of mercury in my house, you wait a few years down the line when you start feeling ill and then wonder why. these energy saving bulbs are bad news. Our fish are full of high levels of mercury from power stations flushing xexexexe out. The last thing we need is these light bulbs giving of more mercury. If the gov were that concerned about our plant they would do more to close the power stations down, but NO poor old Joe has to pay a fortune for these bulbs on just a money making scam to poison you |

| | | Re: Light bulbs banned There are many people with dimmer switches who must be silently cussing or stocking up, as these can't be used with long-life bulbs. The mercury is less of a concern for me, tbh, if you are sensible over the disposal of any broken bulbs all should be well. A bulb is a sealed unit. Yes, we are exposed to mercury in a lot of situations but we are exposed to a lot of other things as well.
I discovered in an emergency situation that the screw - in long life bulbs could happily replace spotlight bulbs in my kitchen light fitting. As the spotlight bulbs blew on an almost monthly basis, this was Good News for me. I am less convinced by price arguments as I've seen bulbs on buy - one - get - two - free offers, been sent them in the post free (several times) and discount stores such as Wilkinsons now have very cheap own brands. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
