| | | Re: Wind turbines Did anyone else read that the turbines of an offshore windfarm on the South coast are at the end of their design life, and are to be replaced? The present ones are 30m high, their replacements will be 60m. They are 8 miles out to sea and will be visible from Swanage. Imagine 200 foot high masts inland.

| | | Re: Wind turbines - Largest in the UK Here in North Devon we now have the largest turbines and by that, I mean the tallest, currently being built, today saw the 7th of the 22 being hoisted skywards.
These monsters are 110m tall, but I tell it as it is, 365 feet tall, these turbines are bigger than Big Ben.
This monstrous wind farm is called Fullabrook Down, in North Devon, and not on some far flung hill top,but right slap in the middle of beautiful countryside villages. The entrance to this wind farm is amongst our countryside lanes, parts of which have had to be 'widened' to get the massive transporter lorries through, carrying the 45 meter blades & the 65 meter turbines into the fields to build these monsters.
I will put some photos on, when it is completed, there will be plenty of before and after shots, I am sure. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
