| | | green caterpillar ID
Can someone please tell me what this green caterpillar is called (assuming there is going to be a picture of it!! )
This is my first attempt at re-sizing and adding an image (not the best photo I had.....but I was so shocked I had managed to re-size and add it in the Gallery.. that I just carried on while the going was good )
Thanks |

| | | Re: green caterpillar ID I'm sorry , I've had a scout around and can't Id it for you, it looks like it has 4 white spots on each segmement? - lucky there are alot of people around who probably can.
I am wondering about the web like stuff around it is that its been caught in a spiders web or it is the sort of carepillar that has a nest? The nests I've seen are made of a thicker substance and usually have lots of caterpillars in - interesting! |

| | | Re: green caterpillar ID Hello, me again, this has been really annoying me. I ve checked a few more sites today and the best I can come up with is The Dark Brocade Moth-(Mniotype adusta) or an Light Brown apple moth (Epiphyas postvittana) but even so I'm not sure. it might give you something to go on though - good luck! |

| | | Re: green caterpillar ID Thanks Goosey and Nightshade (and Talisman I think )
I've quickly had a look at the moths you suggested but can only find pictures of them as moths and not caterpillars so I shall have a more indepth look in a mo.
Right, I took the photo 8 days ago on a small potted fuchsia in my yard and the caterpillar was just over 1 cm long and quite thin.
I've just had another look and it's moved and wrapped inside the only big leaf that's still left ( I think that web like stuff must have been left by a spider).
My yard is coming along....well, very slowly I'm afraid .... but now the weather is so much brighter I feel inspired to get thing moving and hopefully I'm going to get rid of the shed as well and that will give me a lot more scope.
Thanks for your help. |
