| | | Hairy Colourful Caterpiller .
url=http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/archive/showphoto.php?photo=176665]  [/url]
Taken by my eleven year old grand daughter whom we are encouraging with wildlife photography.
I think the caterpiller might be a vapourer moth larvae but I am not sure and do not wish to mislead.
Can anyone help please?
I think it may have been wandering attempting to find a place to pupate but again help needed
Thank you,
Brian. proud grandad. |

| | | Re: Hairy Colourful Caterpiller Hi Brian, just wanted to say that I think it is great you are encouraging her. My partner and I are trying to help educate children (and adults) about wildlife, and think it important that everyone is educated about the creatures that cohabit our planet. It's just a shame there aren't more people taking the time to really look and learn about wildlife

My wife and I are in our eighth decade but we love to encourage our grand daughter with her camera.
One of her delights is to have a sleep over here and I set the moth trap that night.
First thing in the morning we are out seeing what has been trapped and photograhing before relaesing.
It is fabulous - we enjoy it as much as her.
My wife 'Margaret the Novice' has several wildlife pics on a web page and we regularly try and help with wildlife images to be used for schools and educational groups.
Alllfor helping the kids apprecaite the wildlife in what is now an overcrowded island.

| | | Re: Hairy Colourful Caterpiller That's great. My brother does a bit of moth trapping, it's amazing what turns up. My daughter is 2 now and getting very curious of wildlife. She can differentiate between different British birds at the moment, which is great. I think everyone should encourage their children/grand-children to appreciate wildlife.
