Unexpected treasures...

... from a mornings scrumping.

Went scrupming for plums recently and found these little beauties. The research I have done tells me that they should be shield bug eggs. Is anyone able to give a more accurate identification?

What does puzzle me is that they have been laid so late in the season, is this a characteristic of the species or optimisim on the behalf of the parents?

I still have the eggs and they are developing nicely, although the plum is deteriorating. May try to take more shots this evening.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what they are Will but I wouldn't eat them.

I agree they look like shieldbug eggs, Common green perhaps?

I think I will give eating them a miss. And the plum doesn't look very appetising anymore.

I don't think they are common green as the common green eggs I have seen have been green. But then I am no expert and have only looked at a few images online.
