| | | can anyone identify these caterpillars? I found these on my youg hawthorn tree yesterday,can anyone tell what they are? and are they good or a problem for my garden? |

if it helps the web they have spun looks almost brown in colour. |

| | | Re: can anyone identify these caterpillars? we had those on our hawthorn tree 2 years ago, they ate ever so much of the foliage and left sticky web every where. There was no damage to the tree though as it has flourished every year since then.
I wouldn't worry about them, it's all part of nature, they didn't go on any of the other plants.
Can't remember what they were called though! |

| | | Re: can anyone identify these caterpillars? The larvae are probably those of the Hawthorn Webber moth. They feed on the leaves and live under the protective tent.

I have looked up pictures of the hawthorn webber moth lavie and the web type protection they build and mine do not look the same,the web is only over a couple of branches and looks light brown in colour also the caterpillars do not appear to be feeding under the web but have disappeared. |  | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
