| | | Bristly larva A friend of mine is concerned because he says lots of these are falling out of wooden beams in his bedroom. Can anyone tell me what they are. The body is about 3mm long.
Thanks

| | | Re: Bristly larva Hi Lance
Thanks for replying. I too thought that but I've searched google and can't find any that look like this. The nearest is the 'carpet' beetle but even that doesn't have the same long tail bristles.

| | | Re: Bristly larva Afternoon Peter, long time no see!
It's probably the larva of an Anobiid or Dermestid, such as Attagenus pelio.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Bristly larva Hi Jason
I was hoping you would have a look as I felt sure you would come up with something
The odd thing is that the only place they have been found is in a bathroom with all tiled surfaces & no carpet or clothes ( or birds nests ).
Peter
I've found a picture which looks very like it http://www.pbase.com/image/36891362

| | | Re: Bristly larva Well, carpet beetles do not always stay in the carpet or in the clothing. They are very most often found around windows, because when they lay their eggs, the female try to go out. This webpage has a lot of information with pictures How To Kill and Get Rid of Carpet Fabric Hide Beetles the larvae picture looks similar to yours. You can also check here for info how to get rid of them: Carpet beetles | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
