| | | Unidentified caterpillar - Id please This image was taken just over a couple of week ago and I have been trying to get an id for it without success, the caterpillar was found on a blade of grass in woodland and is around 1cm long with a single white stripe along its back. I would be grateful for an id for this little fella! |

I'm really intrigued and would love to know myself what it is!

Wayne, I did have a look at your suggestion of the Buttoned Snout Moth. It certainly looks similar, but I am not entirely convinced, due to the location and the time of year, though these are not always accurate in themselves.
At the moment this would appear to be to top candidate, however I will keep looking.
Kayleigh, that's a good point it could be a sawfly, will need to do so more checking, mind you I hope not as these seem to be even harder to identify than moth and butterfly caterpillars.
If anyone has any further suggestions, I would be grateful, once I get a definitive Id, I'll post it in the Gallery. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
