| | | Identify insect larva This landed on the back of my hand yesterday in a woodland clearing. It was about 2mm long.
Does anyone have any idea what kind of insect larva it might be please? |

| | | Re: Identify insect larva Thanks for your reply. Yes, nymph of a frog hopper or leaf hopper seems likely but in spite of spending ages on the internet looking for photos I have failed to find a match - most are only illustrated as adults. Does anyone out there know where I might be able to find pictures of British leaf/frog hopper nymphs? |

| | | Re: Identify insect larva Evening Mari, and welcome to WAB!
Your bug is a Plant Hopper nymph, family Delphacidae.
In answer to your last question, Google ' British Bugs' and go for the .org.uk site.
Take care, Jason

| | | Re: Identify insect larva Thanks Jason - much appreciated. I will certainly make the British Bug site my first place to look in future.
Plant Hoppers are obviously very difficult to identify down to species level. |

Plant Hoppers are obviously very difficult to identify down to species level. | The 2 guys- Tristan + Joe- who run that site are both fairly regular on WAB, though I know Joe has recently moved to China, so any unidentified bug photos could be posted on here + I'm sure you'll get an ID, not always to species , from one of these guys. |

| | | Re: Identify insect larva Thank you very much - that's brilliant and so kind of you to get back to me. I have just rubbed out the ? in my notebook and inserted the correct name.
