| | | Please help me identify these bugs all over my flat? over the last 2 weeks I've found several little centipede type bugs around my flat. Bathroom, kitchen and bedroom, usually always near to the skirting boards and so far I haven't seen any in any of the other rooms or the hallway. I have cream carpets throughout my flat so it's very easy to notice them. They are about fingernail length, dark brown and underneath appears to be pale cream but could perhaps be lots of tiny legs. I'm on the 5th floor of block of flats that are around 7 years old so it's not something coming in from a garden or outside. In the 4 years I have lived here I have only ever had cne spider never mind any little bugs.I'm very particular with cleanliness so I am really worried it's some kind of hatching eggs?I managed to catch a real zoom in of one tonight and see that it has got lots of little legs and perhaps a litte hairy too, but once I view the photos back I see there is actually a baby one beside it. I placed a pair of tweezers beside so that it might help gauge the size of them in comparasin.I really really hate bugs and the thought of anything like this being in my house makes me feel sick - I would really appreciate anyone's comments on what this could possibly be? Many thanks in advance! |

The woolybears I think the larvae are called they live in the carpets. |

| | | Re: Please help me identify these bugs all over my flat? Thanks for your help. I hoover at least 3 times per week as it is, they've only appeared in the last two weeks, so not summer and so far I've yet to see any kind of beetle or bug other than this centipede type thing. I live in a city in a built up area and no green or grass around me, plus the fact I'm on the 5th floor of a building - it hasn't accessed my flat through garden or frontdoors etc.
I'm panicking so much in case there's some kind of eggs hatching, I've just moved all my bedroom furniture and hoovered underneath, gone thru my wardrobes and drawers and cleaned with hot water. I'm def not getting to sleep tonight, am so stumped as to where it has come from as explained earlier in 4 years the only thing ever has been 1 spider so where the heck has this thing come from.... |

Will they go away? Is it normal that they make it into a flat? |

| | | Re: Please help me identify these bugs all over my flat? Certainly one of the Dermestid beetles. Not the usual carpet beetle (Anthrenus). Are your carpets wool? These larvae will be living on dry organic material, feathers, fur, hair, skin or meat products. If you have none of these around, they may be coming from an (old) dead bird or bird's nest in the roof or chimney. They look big enough to be full grown so will have come from eggs laid some months ago. |

| | | Re: Please help me identify these bugs all over my flat? Is it right not to have seen a beetle of any sort, no bugs, insects other than these. I don't have pets, not sure what fibres the carepts are, same carpet throughout whole flat. I clean my flat religiously so shouldn't ever be excess hair or dust around. We don't have chimneys or trees nearby so I really have no clue how this started | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
