Have a look at Common Clothes Moth
There may be similar larvae of other species but in the house I would be thinking of clothes moth.

| | | Re: any ideas what this is?? so it is a cloth moth. just wait to see if it spins a case, ive now found 2 of these things although the other one is in a greeny coloured case it could be mistaken for an off coloured bit of moss if you like. do you think having 2 of these is something to be alarmed about? thank you for the link it was very helpfull |

| | | Re: any ideas what this is?? This moth is a very common insect, we get them hatching every year therefore they must be living in the house and the larvae are probably destroying the felt on the hammers and keys of the Steinway.
More than likely they are enjoying the older bits of carpet felt (as we don't really have a grand piano)!
I wouldn't be alarmed at finding a couple of larvae - squash them and there'll be two less moths to hatch. They will eat natural fibres so will be causing some damage somewhere. It all depends on what and how much you can tolerate. |  | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
