help, this pupa was originally an unremarkable small green caterpillar and it fed on willow!?
any ideas?

Your best bet (partiularly if you have a picture of the cat.) is to try UK Leps. It's a bit laborious but they have pictures of the larval stages of almost every UK Lepidoptera including the pupae.

Cant help with the cat, but just wanted to say what a cracking site, thanks for that link - helped ID elephant hawk moth pupa.

Like I say, it's a bit laborious but well worth it; I don't think there's any other site like it and it must have taken an awful lot of work to build up
