| | Caterpillar on Rosa Canina Perthshire A few days ago I noticed this caterpillar as I was taking photos of rosehips. I went back the next day and it was still there so I presume its feeding from the leaves. Does anyone know what type of caterpillar this is?
Many thanks |

| | Re: Caterpillar on Rosa Canina Perthshire Thanks everyone for your prompt replies, after checking your id's against google images I'm leaning on it being a Vapourer plus I came across this photo already on the Wild About Britain Gallery and I think they are very similar. | | | Re: Caterpillar on Rosa Canina Perthshire Not a Grey Dagger as that has only 1 large 'tuft' about 1/3 of the way down from the head (I have a parasitised one in a tub in front of me!). I'd say Vapourer too by the number & positioning of the 'tufts'.
