Spotted this chap as it made haste across open ground presumably to pupate.
My insect books do not show it so can anyone please offer a suggestion as to identity?
My wife Margaret took the photograph.

im pretty sure thats a white ermine caterpillar
this is the first ID iv given so i hope im correct :P
i hatched about 35 of them recently, thats how i knew |

i have similar ones here in northern ireland,
but they have yellow stripes instead, not sure what they r actually... |
