Yes its a sawfly larvae. I believe there are a couple of rose feeding species so unsure which it is. |

Hi, it's not the usual "Rose Sawfly" (Arge pagana) as the eat from the edges inwards. It is the Rose Slug Sawfly (Endelomyia aethiops).

Btw, the blue tits seem to like them, our roses were covered in the Arge pagana larvae and the blue tits ate every one of them!

Thank you for that. I was surprised to see such a small larva had eaten so much! It's the only one on the bush - a new David Austen one I had for my birthday.

It's always the way. The rose that my dog enjoys weeing up is my favourite David Austen one
