In mourning!

A few weeks ago I found a really cool caterpillar (of a vapourer moth) in my garden. Every day I've been to check on my little caterpillar friend and watched him grow, looking forward to the day when he can fly away. Just been on my daily visit to see him and to my horror found a spider had sucked all the essence out of him Poor little chap. RIP

This evening on the way to my parent's house I saw 3 Vapourer larvae feeding on a tiny Sallow sapling self-seeded amongst some planted roadside Ivy.

Shame about yours- at least you have a spider to observe!

That's the worst thing - it was a really nice lookin light green big-bummed spider and for a minute, I thought oooh look at that, how cool, and then I saw what he had done! Mixed emotions!
