Hi Peter

The best I can do for the second caterpillar is that it is one of the Burnet moths,I hope this is of some use.

Good morning Jason and thanks for your reply. Caterpillars seem to be incredibly difficult to ID, particularly when not on a host plant. #2 was just crawling along the grass without any obvious host plant nearby. #1 was on its host plant which was a very broad leaved plant with leaves similar to rhubarb.
