| | | Larva in campion seed head. Hi, the other day (before the contract gardeners decided to hit our school wild garden with a strimmer ) I saw a couple of grubs inside the seedheads of the red campion, there was one per head and it filled it up. They didn't seem to be eating the seeds, just curled up inside. I didn't get a picture as I was going to go up this weekend with my camera but that's out of the window now with the whole area razed to the ground... They had dark chevrons on their back if that helps. I know this is a long shot, but they didn't look like caterpillars (no legs at rear).
Any clues?
Jo

| | | Re: Larva in campion seed head. Thanks for that; I've just had a look on ukleps and it looks like a winner (the name gives it away really!). I didn't fancy trawling through their whole site only to find it wasn't lepidoptera! I can see why I thought it had no rear legs when it was curled up.
